About Jim
Experience and leadership
My passion has always been helping people grow. Throughout my career, I have guided leaders, teams and organisations through periods of transformation, growth and change.
Before founding Jignite, I gained extensive experience in large international organisations, including ING Bank, Johnson Controls, EY and Atos. Working in complex, international environments has taught me what it takes to turn change plans into meaningful and lasting improvements in people’s everyday work. I also served in the Royal Netherlands Army for twenty years, where I learned to lead under pressure, take responsibility and make decisions when it truly matters. Further details on my career and recent publications can be found on my LinkedIn profile.
Academic background
With more than 40 years of experience across leadership, learning and development, lifelong learning has always been central to both my work and personal development. I bring this mindset to the organisations I support. I hold an MSc in Learning Technology from the University of Sheffield, an MBA with distinction from Maastricht School of Management, a bachelor’s degree in Educational Science from HAN University of Applied Sciences, and a diploma in Business Development and Leadership from Rotterdam School of Management. This combination of academic knowledge and extensive practical experience enables me to provide advice that is well founded, relevant and immediately applicable.
Professional qualifications
I am also a Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner, Social Styles® certified, an internationally accredited IBCT trainer and facilitator, and a CRKBO-registered teacher. These qualifications support a professional, evidence-informed approach to the programmes, interventions and learning solutions I design.
International Experience
I have had the privilege of working internationally and facilitating programmes I designed across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and the United States. This experience enables me to recognise cultural differences and local expectations that can influence the success of a programme. It also helps me design and facilitate learning journeys that are relevant, inclusive and effective for teams working across different countries and cultures.
The Advantage of Traveling
Travelling offers valuable opportunities to learn from other cultures through the people you meet and the places you visit. This cultural awareness is essential when designing and delivering international programmes.
Participants should be able to focus fully on the learning while also feeling respected, included and comfortable. Understanding cultural and religious differences is therefore an important quality for any consultant working internationally. I bring this awareness and sensitivity to every international programme and rollout I support.
Strengths and Competences
My added value lies in a combination of expertise across several core areas: leadership development, talent management, change management, digital transformation, e-learning, educational design and learning technology.
I support organisations through interim management, consultancy and project-based assignments, combining strategic advice with practical implementation and delivery.
